The layout and rolling terrain of the course is reminiscent of North Carolina courses. Although the course is not extremely tight, allowing you to swing away, an errant shot may be caught among century old oak trees lining each picturesque fairway. Several holes have sharp doglegs approaching elevated greens which require precise iron play. Four sets of tees allow golfers of all skill levels to enjoy this course.

Although over 40 years old, the Inverness club still maintains a small roster, and a no tee times policy. Members, men and women, can tee up anytime they desire except when there is organized play. This consists, primarily, of women's day on Tuesday morning's, men's day on Wednesday mornings, a mixed afternoon nine-hole scramble called Friday League and a monthly couples tournament. Most members participate in these events as well as other play.

This 18-hole championship course has wide oak and pine tree-lined fairways and large undulating greens guarded by 51 sand traps. LakeSide Country Club has four holes playing around an abandoned phosphate mine with long par 5's and numerous doglegs, making unusual layouts not typical of most Florida courses.
