Rails to Trails Bike Ride
Begins at the North Apopka Trail Head, (no mass start). This 16th Annual bike ride is sponsored by the Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochee with distances from 15 to 100 miles. You can determine your own ride distance.

The deadline for pre-registration is Sept. 11, 2010. Registration before that date ensures you will receive a ride shirt of the proper size.
Entry fee is $20 for all riders who pre-register. Entry fee on the day of the ride is $25.

8 to 10 pm at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park in Citrus County. (Crystal River Archaeological Site is a world-famous pre-Columbian mound complex extending along the north shore of the Crystal River. The site is one of the most imposing prehistoric ceremonial centers on Florida’s west coast.

The Moon Over the Mounds tour this season will begin at the Park Museum at 8:00 PM. Interpretive guides tell the story of the famous Crystal River Site by torchlight as guests tour though the moon-lit mound complex. Travel back with us to AD 600 when the Crystal River site was the most important ceremonial site in the region!

The park is located at 3400 North Museum Point, Crystal River just north of the Crystal River Mall. Drive North on U.S. 19 and turn left onto State Park Street(approximately ¼ mile past the Crystal River Mall – just past Denny’s / Days Inn). Continue on State Park Street approximately one mile, make a left on North Museum Point and take it all the way to the end.

Haunted Halloween in Crystal River
The Friends of Crystal River State Parks is sponsoring a Haunted Halloween, with Very Terrifying Tram Ride, a special children’s festival, a variety of food vendors, and live Music under the Oaks. There will be Mortuary Photography, popular in the 19th century, sponsored by the Florida Public Archeology Network. Admission is a $5.00 donation for adults and $3.00 for children under 12.
SPECIAL NOTICE: The extremely terrifying “Castle Keep Resort” will be appearing at the Haunted Halloween again this year. This famous haunted house is recommended only for the bravest of souls, and it is presented by the Florida Entertainment and Recreation Volunteers (FEAR), for a donation of $5.00 per person. This price is NOT INCLUDED in the gate admission.
The Haunted Halloween will be held at the Crystal River Eco-Walk site this year. It is located north of Crystal River on US 19, 3 miles north of the Crystal River Mall, right across the highway from Seven Rivers Hospital. You may be assured that, should you become so scared as to require professional care, the Seven Rivers Hospital is a world class medical facility, ready to help. Turn off of US 19 on Curtis Tool Road and follow the signs through the Park gate. Ample parking is free.
