Floral City Heritage Days
Activities are located in and around the National Historic District.
On Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. marks the annual Folk Life/Living History Day portion of Floral City Heritage Days. It also includes the popular Historic Home Tours.

Visitors are encouraged to park in the Ferris Groves Field on the north side of the Sales Store/Packing House on U.S. Hwy. 41 and catch the free hay-wagon shuttle offered by Ferris Farms, Inc. The shuttle will carry visitors around the main block of activities and past the majority of historic homes. Signs on U.S. 41 will point to the field entrance and indicate that Historic Home Tour Tickets ($10.00) and BBQ may be purchased there as well.

An open field located in the center of the village serves as the home for folk-life artisans and demonstrators who come from around the state to recreate what life was like in Florida more than a century ago. The ever-popular Historic Home Tour allows visitors to enter private homes that are opened to the public only on this Saturday.

Visitors will not leave hungry, a pig-on-a-spit will be roasting for pork dinners at the church pavilion where the TOOFAR organization serves up their annual fare. Visitors will be treated to Hoppin’ John, cornbread and all the country “fixin’s” appropriate to this Folk Day event. Other sites will be offering BBQ Ribs and Chicken, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Corn-on-the Cob, Sweet potato pies, Kettle Korn, Pickle-on-a-Stick and pastries and drinks.

Located at the new Town Center will be the Floral City Friends of the Library Heritage Book Sale. The Heritage Museum and “Country” Store will be open all day Saturday and on Sunday from 1-4 pm, and is the only activity on Sunday.

Floral City Heritage Days is promoted as an educational/historical program affiliated with the Citrus County Historical Society’s Museum Services. As such it seeks sponsors and the Floral City Heritage Council who presents this program is grateful for the support received by these generous contributors.
